Summary: The District requests adoption of Resolution No. 08:18-19 to authorize Candace Reines, Deputy Superintendent of Business Services to apply for a grant with the California Energy Commission School Bus Replacement Program and if awarded funds, execute all necessary documents to implement and carry out this Resolution.

The purpose of this grant is to replace old diesel school buses with new electric school buses to reduce California’s use and dependence on petroleum transportation fuels and increase the use of alternative fuels and advanced vehicle technologies. The Energy Commission will provide funding for the electric school buses and up to $60,000 per awarded bus for electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
Funding: There is no fiscal impact for this item.
Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve Resolution No. 08:18-19 Authorization to Apply for a Grant with the California Energy Commission School Bus Replacement program.
