Summary:
|
The Nutrition Services Department is requesting to renew bid #041218 awarded to Gold Star Foods for the purchase of frozen, refrigerated, and dry foods for the School Breakfast Program and the National School Lunch Program. The bid was awarded in May 2018 as a cooperative bid with the Murrieta Valley Unified School District, Temecula Valley Unified School District, Lake Elsinore Unified School District, Menifee Union School District, and Perris Elementary School District. Nutrition Services has determined that it is in the best interest of the District to extend the contract through the 2020-21 school year.
The estimated cost for the 2020-21 school year is $1,295,800 based on the estimated quantities for the prices listed on the bid with an additional increase of 1.86% C.P.I.
The contract may be renewed annually upon mutual consent for up to two (2) additional one (1) year terms for a maximum of three (3) years, in accordance with Education Code Section 81644. This term from July 1, 2020 through June 30,2021 will be the last renewal term for this contract.

The cost for this item will be included in the 2020-21 operating budget funded through Nutrition Services, not the General Fund.
