Myshia LeBoss, teacher at Paloma Valley High School has submitted a request for a performing arts course of Dance IV, which is being proposed for the 2019-20 school year.
Dance IV is the final studio/technique course that students will be able to take in dance. Students will present a portfolio of work exemplifying growth, choreographic skills, highly refined technical ability with a wide range of motion, and exceeding minimum standards of excellence, to an authentic audience at the culmination of the course.
This course is for students who require further technical training in dance, rather than a theoretical approach to the advancement of dance skills. Dance IV offers a different pathway than the one currently offered in dance at our District. The District's present pathway in dance, although appropriate for some students in the program does not serve the needs of all the students in the program. Dance IV provides an option for a fourth year of dance to students who would like to continue their skills and learn dance from a technical aspect.
The course has been approved by the Director of Curriculum and Instruction and the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services as a new districtwide high school elective course effective 2019-20.
