Master Sergeant Frank Puebla and Commander Thomas Garcia, Paloma Valley High School’s NJROTC Instructors, have submitted a request to send 45 cadets to represent Paloma Valley High School (PVHS) at the NJROTC Nationals at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida, that will be held April 4-10, 2018.
The NJROTC Nationals remain the most comprehensive test of overall JROTC training and performance in existence today. This year, many of the nation’s finest NJROTC units from each of the eleven Navy Areas will make themselves a part of this exciting academic, athletic and drill competition. No competition in the world of JROTC provides a better test of all-around program quality and esprit-de-corps than the “Navy Nationals.”
PVHS NJROTC competed in the State Championship Drill Competition and finished as one of the top three finalists enabling them to compete at the Regional level. Recently, the PVHS NJROTC qualified at regionals to attend the Nationals in Pensacola, Florida. This year is the third time in the history of the PVHS NJROTC program in which they rated an invitation to Nationals in Florida.
Normally a trip like this would cost approximately $900-$1000 per person which would total between $45,000 - $50,000 for the group. However, Commander Garcia has arranged for transportation via Southwest Airlines at a deeply discounted rate, bringing the cost down to under $750 per person for a total of $37,500. The group will fly from Los Angeles to New Orleans, Louisiana, where ground transportation will be provided by the Navy (free of charge) to get from New Orleans, to the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida.
This is an overnight field trip of five nights, with 45 students, and 5 adult chaperones. Transportation will be provided via district bussing from Paloma Valley High School to the Los Angeles International Airport, then via Navy transportation as mentioned above. All expenses will be paid from the NJROTC ASB Account and by student fundraising.

The cost for this item is included in the 2017-18 operating budget funded through the PVHS NJROTC Associated Student Body fund.
