Summary:

The District would like to contract with Johnson Consulting Engineers (JCE) for engineering services to create the electrical design for the Paloma Valley High School (PVHS) Intercom/Clock Replacement project. This contract includes system design, electrical systems drawings, estimation of probable cost on the project, final estimation of probable cost, in-office consultation and clarifications, providing responses for Requests for Information (RFI) during the bid process, observation of construction to ensure the work is following the specifications and codes, preparation of change order requests if needed, and review of contractor pay requests. The current estimate for these services is $27,000 based on 9 percent of the preliminary project budget of $300,000. This estimated cost will adjust based on the final project cost. The scope of work outlined in this Agreement carries no cost until the project is bid.
The current Intercom/Clock system at PVHS has reached its end-of-life with components that are failing or ready to fail. The old infrastructure uses a combination of low-voltage wires, paging amplifiers, and speakers tied into an outdated telecenter. This replacement project will modernize the wiring and equipment to replace old speakers with modern IP units that communicate over CAT6 network cabling. These units come with or without clocks to accommodate classrooms and work areas. Additionally, the replacement project will allow for more granular control of the speakers and facilitate the programming of the school’s bell schedules.
Education Code 17604 and 17605: The Governing Board delegates the power to contract and purchase supplies, equipment, and services.
