Summary: District Administration has advocated for more professional development opportunities for our Classified and Confidential staff. As part of the this support, Cabinet has maintained that participation and membership within the two organizations that support the educational office professional, Riverside County Association of Educational Office Professionals (RCAEOP) and the California Association of Educational Office Professionals (CAEOP), are opportunities for professional growth and development.

Many of our clerical leaders have also taken on responsibilities and roles in the two organizations (RCAEOP and CAEOP). Currently the roles on the CAEOP state board are held by Beth Heyden, Vice President of Publications and Sarah Rico, Recording Secretary. In addition, Beth is also on the current NAEOP board as Council Chairman for High School/Career and Technical Education and Sarah is Registration Chairman for the 2020 conference. Along with their duties within the organization, both Beth and Sarah will participate as conference presenters.

Attending the National Association of Educational Office Professionals (NAEOP) annual conference will provide opportunities to participate in a number of workshop institutes and breakout sessions, as well as representing the State of California at the Advisory Council and the Southwest Area Business Meeting. It will also allow them to network and learn from other state AEOP officers to gain knowledge and understanding in the policies and procedures used in similar state positions that are used by others in like positions across the nation. They will also bring back a information to share with District secretaries and the local affiliate members.

NAEOP also offers a nationally recognized certificate program, the National Professional Standards Program (PSP), and the option of attaining the distinction as a Certified Educational Office Employee (CEOE). The PSP and CEOE achievements are recognized and awarded only through the National Association of Educational Office Professionals. Both Beth Heyden and Sarah Rico have attained their PSP and CEOE distinctions.

Mrs. Heyden and Mrs. Rico truly appreciate the support and investment that District Administration has placed in them and other office professionals within the District.
