Summary:
|
The Perris Union High School District and Mt. San Jacinto Community College (MSJC) wish to provide English as a Second Language (ESL) courses and citizenship courses through the District’s Adult Education program.
English as a Second Language (ESL) will provide the students with communicative and competency based instruction. The program takes a learner-centered approach that targets instruction to identified student needs, goals and interests. Students develop their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills as they achieve life skills and personal development competencies.
Citizenship courses are intended to prepare foreign born students for the United States Citizenship Application process. The course provides focused ESL instruction in United States history, government and institutions and will assist eligible individuals to prepare to become United States citizens.
Students will practice listening and speaking skills in English necessary to pass the oral test with an Immigration and Naturalization Service official and literacy skills needed to pass the written portion.
The District will provide the facility for the classes and MSJC’s Continuing Education Department will conduct the classes.
The term of these Agreements will be August 14, 2017 through June 30, 2018.
Education Code 17604 and 17605: The Governing Board delegates the power to contract and purchase supplies, equipment and services.
