MSJC Affiliation Agreement for Facility Learning Site at PHS for GEOG 101.pdf
Summary: The District and Mt. San Jacinto Community College (MSJC) wish to provide a Geography 101 course at Perris High School as a Concurrent Enrollment course.

Concurrent Enrollment permits high school students to take advanced courses, which give them a jump on their college education. These are regular college courses, and students earn full college credit for their work. Because this is a special program, students must meet special requirements, and not all college classes are open to high school students. Admission to this program is based on GPA, class standings, recommendations from high school faculty, assessment placement; and must also satisfy all prerequisites and eligibility requirements.

Physical Geography examines the physical universe, its life forms, and its natural phenomena. Objectives for this course involve examination of the complex issues to discover connections and correlations for independent conclusions of physical geography. Students apply their knowledge and skills to new and varied environmental situations. Students will also apply technology to select tasks for demonstrating dependent relationships in physical geography.

The District will provide the facility at Perris High School for the classes and MSJC’s Continuing Education Department will conduct the classes.

The term of this Agreement will be August 14, 2017 through December 15, 2017.

This Agreement is being taken as a ratification due to the untimely receipt of the Agreement from the Mt. San Jacinto Community College District.

Education Code 17604 and 17605: The Governing Board delegates the power to contract and purchase supplies, equipment and services.
Funding: There is no fiscal impact to this item.
Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees ratify the Affiliation Agreement for a Facility Learning Site with the Mt. San Jacinto Community College District to provide a concurrent enrollment Geography 101 Class at Perris High School.
