Summary: Frank DeAnda, Heritage High School Counselor, was awarded the opportunity to attend the 2019 College Board Forum that is being held in Washington, D.C., November 6-8, 2019 by the Riverside County Education Collaborative.

The College Board Forum is the preeminent annual gathering of K–12, higher education, and college access professionals from all areas of expertise. The Forum offers a wealth of sessions and workshops led by experienced colleagues that focus on finding solutions to today’s most pressing education issues.

The annual College Board Forum is held each year in different locations in the United States. The College Board oversees the PSAT, SAT and AP testing for the nation.

The Forum brings together educational leaders from around the nation and features guest speakers in the areas of education, politics, business, media and the entertainment industries. Past speakers have included Hillary Clinton, Laura Bush, Bob Costas, Bryant Gumbel, Steven Sample, and Richard Parsons.

Rationale for attending the College Board Forum include:

*To build and strengthen relationships with colleagues
*To share best practices and new ideas that benefit today’s students
*To hear about new education policies and legislation
*To learn how the College Board can support the attendees’ daily work and professional growth

The Forum provides an opportunity for great minds in education across the breadth of College Board members to address and discuss hot topics as well as long standing concerns related to academic readiness, educational opportunity, affordability, and student success.

Riverside County Office of Education will be reimbursing the District the cost of the trip after Frank DeAnda attends the 2019 College Board Forum. The cost of the trip will not exceed $2,200.

This item is being brought before the Board as a ratification due to the untimely receipt of registration and confirmation of payment by the Riverside County Office of Education.
Funding: No fiscal impact.
Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees ratify the out-of-state conference request for Frank DeAnda to attend the 2019 College Board Forum in Washington, D.C., November 6-8, 2019.
