Summary: With the recent closure of The Academy Community Day School and relocation of the District’s educational options programs to the Perris Lake High School campus, an opportunity arose to take back several Special Education Programs from the Riverside County Office of Education. Not only will self-administering these programs save money, students will be better served. In anticipation of this change, the Special Education Department relocated to the former Academy location and plans were developed to renovate the front portion of the site to a Special Education school and administration facility. The back portion will be slightly modified to allow for training facilities and related on-site parking additions.

The District recommends contracting with Baker Nowicki Design Studio for schematic design and design development services, as well as the preparation of construction documents for bidding the project. The cost for these services will be $31,250.

Education Codes 17604 and 17605: The Governing Board delegates the power to contract and purchase supplies, equipment and services.
Funding: The cost for this item is included in the 2017-18 budget, funded through the General Fund.
Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve the Agreement for Architectural Services with Baker Nowicki Design Studios for the 515 East 7th St. Renovation.
