Summary:

Joseph Ali, Senior Military Instructor, has submitted an amended request to have the California Military Institute cadets participate in the ROTC/JROTC Physical Training Championships that will be held at Chemeketa Community College located in Salem, Oregon, April 2-6, 2020. The intent of this program is to empower each ROTC/JROTC program with a qualified team of cadets to perform physical challenges necessary to compete as a team.
Sixteen (16) cadets and four (4) adults will be driving up in district vans to the championships. The cadets and adults will be stopping in Red Bluff for the night and arriving in Salem, Oregon on Friday, April 3rd, where they will be staying at the Hampton Inn in Salem, Oregon. On Saturday they will head to the Brooks Regional Training Center for the Physical Training Championships being held at Chemeketa Community College, in Salem, Oregon. Cadets will compete in the following events as a team: pushups, sit-ups, pull-ups, 300 yard dash, and a two-mile run. After the day’s festivities, the cadets will be treated to a complimentary Yellow Ribbon dinner.
On Sunday, April 5th, the group will head back on the road, stopping in Red Bluff for the night and arriving at CMI on Monday, April 6th at approximately 7:00 p.m.
This is the 3rd Annual Physical Training Championships and the second time that CMI has been invited to participate.
The previous field trip request was approved on the November 2019 agenda for the amount of $2,160 with the dates of March 12-16, 2020. Mr. Alo is requesting that the Board of Trustees amend their approval for CMI's out-of-state field trip to the new date of April 2-6, 2020 with a not to exceed amount of $15,000. The previous amount did not account for food and lodging.

The cost for this item is included in the 2019-20 operating budget funded through the California Military Institute CMD-MOU Fund, not the General Fund.
