Summary: The Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act of 2006 provides an increased focus on the academic achievement of Career Technical Education students, strengthens the connections between secondary and postsecondary education, and improves state and local accountability.

The California Department of Education was required by the Federal Government to submit a State plan in conjunction with the California Community College Chancellor's Office to present a broad and bold vision for Career Technical Education (CTE).

Each Local Educational Agency (LEA) that receives Perkins IV funding is also required to update their CTE Plan. The District's CTE Plan addresses the core requirements of the State plan and focuses on a comprehensive approach to meet California's changing workforce needs. The CTE Plan focuses on the preparation of all students for career and academic success, postsecondary education, and adult roles and responsibilities.

The District will be receiving an allocation of $265,368 in federal funds for the 2017-18 school year.
