Summary: The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation has informed Commander Thomas Garcia, Paloma Valley High School’s NJROTC Instructor, that Paloma Valley High School (PVHS) has been accepted for a school partnership for the Student Leadership Program for the week of July 16-20, 2018, at the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California.

Each summer, the Ronald Reagan Student Leadership Program inspires hundreds of students to expand upon their leadership abilities through the tenets of Communication, Optimism, and Informed Decision Making. Lessons are crafted by the Reagan Foundation’s team of credentialed educators with the goal of helping students to grow on a personal and professional level. Activities are student-driven, highly engaging, and involve a combination of small group interactions, 1:1 mentoring, and public speaking opportunities. By providing training and support at a world class facility with credentialed and trained staff, we cultivate the next generation of citizen leaders that our schools, communities, and country need.

Students who attend the program:

-Cultivate leadership skills. Receive mentoring from educators and community leaders.

-Develop a Leadership Action Plan to make a positive difference in a community of their choice.

-Gain access to ongoing networking & support through the online community, ReaganEDU, and the annual alumni event.

-Receive information about other programs and leadership opportunities through the Reagan Foundation.

The Foundation will provide up to ten (10) guaranteed spots in the Ronald Reagan Student Leadership Program for PVHS students; lunch and snacks for each participant; tours, materials and program souvenirs for each student. With the acceptance of the partnership in the program, the $400 per student registration fee is waived.

Commander Garcia and Alison King (teacher), have submitted a request to send 10 student leaders to represent PVHS at the Ronald Reagan Student Leadership Program. Transportation will be provided by District vehicles. The only expenses will be for hotel rooms (with breakfast included) and the other meals (dinner) not covered by the Foundation.
Funding: The cost for this item is included in the PVHS 2018-19 operating budget funded through the ASB account.
