Summary:

Mr. Rick Mui was retained to provide assistance to the Nutrition Services Department as they work through a transformation period to develop and implement new menu items, establish and refine procedures, work on marketing and branding of their services to the District's students and stakeholders, and to help fill a void as a result of the Director of Nutrition vacancy. Addendum No. 1 was approved by the Board of Trustees on August 17, 2016 to increase the amount of contract by $75,000 and extend the term through June 30, 2017. At that time it was thought the Director vacancy would be filled shortly after the new school year began, and Mr. Mui would only assist on an as-needed basis assisting the new Director in their transition. Recently, a new Director was hired for Nutrition Services and the District would like for Mr. Mui to continue to assist in the transition period on a twice a month basis.
The District requests to extend the term through September 30, 2017 and increase the contract by $18,000 so that Mr. Mui can continue to assist, especially with budget, estimated actuals, and year-end closing.
Education Code 17604 and 17605: The Governing Board delegates the power to contract and purchase supplies, equipment and services.

The cost for this item is included in the 2016-17 and 2017-18 operating budget funded through Nutrition Services, Fund 13.

It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve Addendum No. 2 to the Consultant Agreement with Rick Mui.
