Summary:
|
The Federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 requires all cities, counties, and special districts to adopt a Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP) to receive disaster mitigation funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
The plan identifies vulnerabilities, provides recommendations for prioritized mitigation actions, evaluates resources, provides future mitigation planning and maintenance of the existing plan. All statistical data collected during the development of the 2017 plan annex was obtained using 2015 and 2016 data. The Riverside County Multi-Jurisdictional Plan will be implemented upon FEMA’s final approval after the submission of all jurisdictional LHMP's have been formally adopted with a resolution and forwarded to the County. There are over 20 jurisdictions, including the District, pending formal adoption.
The District requests adoption of the resolution authorizing the District to continue the partnership with Riverside County ensuring eligibility for project grants under FEMA's Hazard Mitigation Assistance Programs and Corresponding Grant Programs as part of the Hazard Mitigation Program.
