On July 17, 2020, Governor Gavin Newsom announced that schools in Riverside County will remain physically closed, providing only distance learning until specific criteria was met by the County. On July 8, 2020, the Perris Union High School District voted unanimously to open District schools in a Distance Learning model for the first six weeks. On Friday, December 3, 2020, Governor Gavin Newsom issued a Regional Stay at Home Order for Southern California, which includes Riverside County. This order will remain in effect for at least three weeks. After three weeks, it will be lifted when projected ICU capacity meets or exceeds 15%. This will be assessed on a weekly base after the initial 3 week period. Southern California is currently at 10.3%. The District would like to extend the Distance Learning model for the first six weeks of the second semester, as Riverside County has not attained approval to open schools in a hybrid or traditional model according to guidelines. |
