Summary:
|
California Public Contract Code section 20118 provides that if there is an existing contract between a vendor and a public agency, then the governing board of any school district may authorize the purchase of personal property directly from the vendor, without advertising for bids, after the district’s governing board makes a finding that using the piggyback contract is in the best interest of the school district and that the school district will make payment under the same terms that are available to the public agency. The Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) conducted a competitive bidding process for the purchase of various materials and supplies including Instructional Materials and awarded a contract to the low bidder, Office Depot, Inc. LACOE authorized other California school districts, including the District, to participate in the LACOE Contract. The District wishes to purchase Instructional Materials for use at various school sites and staff recommend that the Board find that purchasing the needed Instructional Materials from Office Depot under the same terms available under the LACOE Contract is in the District’s best interest. |
