Summary:
|
A new Riverside County Office of Education/Career Technical Education (CTE) course titled “CTE International Cuisine” is being submitted. This is a year-long CTE course that explores culinary arts in sequence with the culinary pathway. Students will focus on understanding the differences and commonalities we have with other cultures around the world. A common denominator in studying world cultures is cuisine. In studying the cuisine of a people or a region, we learn about a country’s geography and climate, traditions, taboos, and social mores, unique conditions caused by environment on a food supply, pressures on a population to trade, export, import, permit a closed or open society, and cultural values. The creation of this course is necessary in order to continue the current pathway of our Culinary Arts. The new course is the fourth class of choice in this pathway. “CTE International Cuisine” meets the UC/CSU A-G Requirement “G”. “CTE International Cuisine” has been approved by the Director of Curriculum and Instruction and the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services. |
